  1. Leading edge of tool moves w/ constant speed (V) through material at fixed depth (t)
  2. contour angle (beta): internal angle of tool
  3. relief angle (alpha): angle b/w tool and material
  4. rake angle(upsilon): angle b/w tool & 90 degree vertical
  5. alpha + Beta + upsilon = 90 degrees
