6
Q

What is desincrustation and how is it preformed?

A

Desincrustation uses galvanic current to create a chemical reaction that emulsifies sebum & debris in the follicle
To preform desincrustation, a negative ph/alkaline-based electro-negative solution is placed onto skins surface

Q

If the product you wish to infuse with galvanic, have both positive and negative ions, state the procedure:

A

The product should be ionized for 3-5 minutes on negative, followed by 3-5 minutes on positive. If neither a positive or negative polarity is indicated for an ampoule, as a general rule the esthetician should should use the negative pole first than positive second.

Q

What are the properties of micro current?

A
  • improves blood and lymph circulation
  • produces acidic & alkaline reactions
  • opens & closes hair follicles and pores
  • increases muscle tone
  • restores elasticity
  • reduces redness & inflammation
  • minimizes healing time for acne lesions
  • improves natural protective barrier of skin

Q

What is a conductor & give 3 examples:

A

Any material that conducts electricity. Most metals are good conductors.

  • copper
  • tap water
  • lake water
  • gold
  • steel
17
Q

What is a non conductor, give 3 examples:

A

A material that doesn’t conduct electricity.

  • rubber
  • cement
  • glass
18
Q

What is the unit of measurement used in electrical therapy for facial treatment?

A

A milliampere

19
Q

Describe polarity:

A

Polarity refers to the poles of electrical current, either positive or negative. The electrodes on many electro therapy devices have one negatively charged pole and one positively charged pole.

20
Q

What 2 facial machines have polarity?

A

Galvanic and micro current

21
Q

What is a fuse?

A

Prevents excessive current from passing through a circuit. Designed to blow out or melt when the wire becomes too hot from overloading the circuit with too much current.

22
Q

What is a circuit breaker?

A

A switch that automatically interrupts or shuts off an electric circuit at the first indication of an overload.

23
Q

15 guidelines for the safe use of electrical equipment:

A

1) All the electrical appliances you use, should be UL certified
2) Read all instructions carefully before using any piece of electrical equipment
3) Always register electrical appliances with the manufacturer so that you will be notified off any safety recalls immediately
4) Disconnect all appliances when not in use; pull on the plug, not the cord to disconnect
5) Disconnect all electrical appliances prior to cleaning them
6) Never poke hair pins or wires through any part of an appliance, including lint screens
7) Inspect all electrical equipment regularly
8) Keep all wires, plugs, & electrical equipment in good repair, do not use cords that have exposed wiring in any part of the cord or where it attaches to the appliance
9) Use only one plug in each outlet, overloading may cause the circuit breaker to pop
10) Avoid contact with water & metal surfaces when using electricity & don’t handle electrical equipment with wet hands or while standing on a wet floor
11) Keep electrical cords off the floor & away from peoples feet
12) Don’t leave a client unattended while connected to an electrical device
13) Don’t attempt to clean around electrical outlets while equipment is plugged in
14) Don’t touch 2 metal objects at the same time if either is connected to an electrical current
15) Don’t step on or place objects on cords
