The lion and the fox
A prince should be able to imitate these two animals. Lions are proud and regal, foxes and sneaky and sly. Lion to be feared and fox to be loved.
Francesco Sforza
Came to power through luck/virtue by his dad being ruler. He fell quickly and Machiavelli says that you should always have war on your mind and never trust anyone.
Cesare Borgia
First he came to power through luck from his dad Alexander VI. But, then worked hard to keep himself in power. He was violent on his state at first but then nicer to, feared but not hated.
Fortune
favors the young, is a river and a woman. good luck.
Machiavelli’s virtue
virtues are qualities praised by others (generosity), but if a prince acts virtuous it can be detrimental to the principality. you work for what you accomplish.
