What is a Metaphor and give an example.
describing something by saying that its something else, its not actually true but it gives the reader a clearer idea of what its like. e.g “shes got a heart of gold”
What is Paradox and give an example.
a statement that is seemingly true e.g “the only constant is change”
What is Imagery and give an example.
language that describes or represents feelings, thoughts, experiences, things (language and description that appeal to 5 senses) e.g “the air smelled salty, reminding me that the beach is nearby”
What is Alliteration and give an example.
a series of words that begin with the same constant sound. e.g “seven sisters slept soundly on the sand”
What is Foreshadowing and give an example.
showing hints about what happens later in the story. e.g dark stormy weather could predict something bad will happen
What is Repetition and give an example.
the action of repeating something that has already been said. e.g “O horror, horror, horror”
What is Dramatic irony and give an example.
when the audience understands the situation more than the characters do. e.g in romeo and juliet, the audience knows that juliet is asleep not dead but romeo does not and he kills himself to be with her.
What are Imperative verbs and give an example.
command words e.g “bring me a glass of water” or “dont ever touch my phone”

a brief reference to a person, event, place, or phrase from religious texts or traditions,
What is Semantic field and give an example.
a group of words or expressions that are related to a topic and used to express different aspects of the topic.
What is Juxtaposition and give an example.
placing two or more things side by side to compare or contrast e.g “all fair in love and war”
