Banquo
In the play, he is at first an ally to Macbeth (both are generals in the King’s army) and they are together when they meet the Three Witches. After prophesying that Macbeth will become king, the witches tell Banquo that he will not be king himself, but that his descendants will be.
Fleance
Banquo’s son, who survives Macbeth’s attempt to murder him.
Duncan
father of two youthful sons (Malcolm and Donalbain),
Lord Macduff
the Thane of Fife, he suspects Macbeth of regicide and eventually kills Macbeth in the final act
Hecate
the goddess of witchcraft, and one can view her as the ruler of the Three Witches. In Act 3, Scene 5, Hecate appears before the Witches and demands to know why she has been excluded from their meetings with Macbeth.
Young sward
He is the son of Siward, general of the English forces in the battle against Macbeth. Macbeth kills him in the final battle, shortly before his swordfight with Lord Macduff.
Siward
Leader of the English army, some ten thousand strong which defeats Macbeth at the end of the play.
Malcom
He is the elder son of King Duncan, the heir to the throne, and brother to Donalbain. In the end, he regains the throne after mustering support to overthrow Macbeth.
Donalbain
He is the younger son of King Duncan and brother to Malcolm, the heir to the throne. Donalbain flees to Ireland after the murder of his father for refuge.
LENNOX
nobleman of Scotland - Lennox is one of Duncan’s nobles and he is largely an observer in the play. He grows suspicious of what he sees in Macbeth, and grows increasingly sarcastic and is fearful for the fate of Scotland.
Doctor
The King of England. He is so saintly his touch can cure the sick. Old Man – An elderly fellow who sees some strange things happen the night Macbeth murders Duncan. Scottish Doctor – The doctor Macbeth assigns to cure Lady Macbeth of her madness.
Ross
Macduff’s cousin and initially a loyal Scottish noble. We first meet Ross in Act 1 of the play when he delivers the news of Macbeth’s victory over the King of Norway to King Duncan. Later in Act 1, it is Ross who first greets Macbeth after the witches tell him that he will one day be king.
