Loyal, Brave, Valient, Admirable - To show all the good aspects of masculinity
Dictatorial, Tyranical, Cold, Greedy - To show all the bad aspects of our perception of masculinity
What is their purpose within the text? Why?
He fulfils the expectations of masculinity and proves his manhood - Allows shakespere to comment on societies perception on masculinity at the time.
What do we learn of their relationships?
LM - It starts off loving and caring. As the play progresses, the relationship becomes, strained, manipulative, yet its still sustains it’s emphasis on the deep connection between them.
M - It’s loyal and dutiful, yet it contrast with Macbeths own ambition and goals.
