m4 final Flashcards
time specified Scheduling
Scheduled appointments at a certain time
Open hours Scheduling
method where patients are seen in the order they arrive
Wave scheduling
Method that groups patients into coming in at certain time block
File sorters
Large, accordion-style folders or desk organizers with tabs or slots for temporarily storing patient records until they can be put back in their proper place.
Tabs
Tapered rectangular or rounded extension either on the top or side of folder
Out guides
Placeholders in files to mark when and who took a file, helping track missing records.
File folder
Basic filing tool made of heavy paper, forming a pocket for papers. Available in letter (8½ x 11) and legal (8½ x 14) sizes. (Manila folder)
How to correct an error in an EHR system
By putting an addendum incorrect information is made as soon as possible and once the error is noted.
peritonitis
Inflammation of the membrane lining the abdominal wall and covering the abdominal organs
Incisor
teeth at the front of the mouth to bite off food
Sublingual
under the tounge
Gastrointestinal Angiography
contrast dye injected into artery to detect bleeding.
MRI
magnetic Resonance imaging produces 3d images
Intravenous Pyelogram
An X-ray imaging test that use a contrast dye injected in to vein to create pictures of the urinary tract
Myelography
A contrast dye is injected into the spinal canal test that uses a contrast of dyes and X-rays or CT to exam spinal cord to create images
Varicose Veins
twisted dilated veins usually seen in the legs
electrocardiogram
ECG/EKG measures heart rythm
Radioallergosorbent Test
Measures blood levels of antibodies to specific allergens
Mucosa
The mucosa is the innermost layer of the canal wall. It is made mostly of epithelial tissue that secretes enzymes and mucus into the lumen, or passageway, of the canal. This layer also is active in absorbing nutrients.
Effacement
The cervix thins and softens dilating to approximately 10 cm
Labia majora
Rounded folds of adipose tissue and skin that protect the other external female reproductive organs
Nuchal cord
Umbilical cord around the fetal neck
spermicide
Agent that destroys sperm
Corpora
Columns of erectile tissues found in the penis
Submucosa
The submucosa is the layer just outside the mucosa. It contains loose connective tissue, blood vessels, glands, and nerves.
The blood vessels in this layer carry absorbed nutrients throughout the body.
Muscular layer
This layer lies between the submucosa and the canal’s outermost layer. It is made of layers of smooth muscle tissue and contracts to move materials through the canal.
Serosa
The serosa is the double-walled, outermost layer of the canal and is also known as the peritoneum. The innermost wall of the serosa is known as the visceral peritoneum. It secretes serous fluid to keep the outside of the canal moist, preventing it from sticking to other organs or to its outer layer, the parietal peritoneum, also called the abdominal lining.
Postmortem
In the cause of death is uncertain or a crime is suspected, an autopsy (postmortem) is performed.
Transient Tachypnea
occurs most often in C-sections and precipitate (unduly rapid) vaginal deliveries. With TTN, amniotic fluid remains in the infant’s lungs and causes a self-limiting respiratory distress.
Kyphosis
An abnormal curvature of the spine most often at the thoracic (chest level)
(Hump back)
Hemoglobinuria
The presence of free hemoglobin in the urine
Amniocentesis
Procedure performed when a genetic or metabolic defect is suspected in a fetus
