Describe the earth’s axis.
A
- Imaginary line that starts at the North Pole, goes through the centre of the earth, and end at the South Pole.
- It is not vertical.
- It is tilted at 23.5 degrees from the vertical
- It maintains it tilt as it moves around the sun.

Why does the earth have night and day?
A
- The earth rotates on its axis once per day.
- The side of the earth that is facing the sun experiences daytime.
- The side of the earth facing away from the sun experiences nighttime.

What is the Equator?
A
Equator = Imaginary line that runs horizontally across the middle of the earth at 90 degress to the earth’s axis.

A
- The earth moves around the sun in a curved path.
- The earth takes 1 year to do a complete orbit around the sun.
