why do we combine reading and writing
Reading and writing come hand in hand in learning. As a student, reading before writing is beneficial as it acts as a base for new knowledge. just like how we enter classrooms or attend meetings with advanced knowledge acquired through advanced reading.
it is also beneficial for students to write what they’ve read to retain the information and to have a better understanding on what they’ve learned
since reading and writing are both acts of communication, if they are used hand in hand, the students will havea bigger perspective in the way the writers think since they’ll be exposed to different writing styles, complex sentences and correct grammar and spelling. SImilarly, an effective writer must be able to think just the way their readers will to put themsekves into different perspective.
Why is it important to consider the topic before beginning to read?
it is important since learner needs to activate their prior knowledge in regard to the topic. This is a way of preparation for the mind to interact with the new information contained in the text. This refers to schema which is the prioe knowledge regarding the topic, it is an association readers do based on their pior knowledge, experience, and ideas.
why is it important to keep a journal
the more you write the more your writing improves and journaling can help you eith that since it does not recquire any topic, you just have to write your thoughts.
why is it important to experiment
it is important to explore other sources of data to have a wider understanding and information that you can incorporate into your writing. it is also important to experiment with the different styles and tones that deeply reflect yourself.
Why is it important to study the format
it is important to organize thoughts, contents, and ideas since it is said that text structures can affect the learning capacity of a student. with great format, students can learn more and they would have a deeper comprehension. but it is also important for students to try and read different text structure rather than just focusing on one. (e.g. problem-solution, cause-effect, compare-contrast),
Why is it important to write in the margin?
it increases the chances of your remembering what you’ve read since you’ve shared your thoughts and opinions regarding the topic.
What is schema?
it is your prior knowledge regardig a topic that you can correlate to what you are about to read. it is imortant since it prepares you to better understand the information you are about to read.
