  • Joined by beta 1-4 glycosidic bonds
  • Forms straight chains
  • Hydrogen bonds form between chains.

What is the function of cellulose?

A
  • Strengthen cells and whole plant
  • Prevents cell from bursting = turgid
  • Arrangements of microfibrils permits passage of water (apoplast)
