Lymphoproliferative Disorders Flashcards
What is the normal size of a lymph nodes and above what size suggests lymphoma?
Normal size 0.5-1 cm; >2 cm suggests lymphoma.
Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma types are classified according to their cell of origin. Provide some B cell lymphomas according to whether they arise from pre-germinal center, germinal center, and post-germinal center lymphomas.
Pre GC: mantle cell lymphoma, CLL, SLL.
GC: Burkitt lymphoma, GCB DLBCL, Follicular lymphoma, marginal zone lymphoma.
Post GC: ABC DLBCL, multiple myeloma.
List investigations that can detect the presence of clonality of a possible lymphoma.
Immunophenotyping: flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry.
Molecular studies.
What cell marker is indicative of a pre-germinal B cell?
CD5.
Seen in CLL, mantle cell lymphoma.
What cell marker is indicative of a germinal centre B cell?
CD10.
Seen in Burkitt, follicular lymphoma, GCB DLBCL.
What translocation is seen in mantle cell lymphoma?
t(11;14)
What translocation is seen in Burkitt lymphoma?
t(8;14)
What translocation is seen in Follicular lymphoma?
t(14;18)
Results in Bcl2 mutation, and preventing apoptosis.
