Lymphatic Drainage Flashcards
Where does lymph go?
> 75% from lateral quadrants of breast drain to axillary lymph nodes (pectoral, subscapular, humeral, central, and apical)
Where does lymph pass from?
Lobules of gland, nipple, and areola to subareolar lymphatic plexus
Where does most of the lymph drain to?
Pectoral (anterior) nodes
Some may drain directly to other axillary nodes, or interpectoral, deltopectoral, supraclavicular, or inferior deep cervical nodes
Where does lymph from the medial breast drain to?
Parasternal lymph nodes or opposite breast
Where does lymph from inferior breast quadrants pass?
Abdominal lymph nodes (inferior phrenic nodes)
Lymph from the axillary nodes drains to _____________
Infraclavicular and supraclavicular nodes and go to subclavian lymphatic trunk
Lymph from parasternal nodes enter the _________
Bronchomediastinal trunks-drain into the thoracic or right lymphatic duct
