Signs & Sx
Early Infection (one or more may be present at different times during infection)
A
- Red rash (erythema migrans)
- Flulike symptoms (fever, headache, stiff neck, fatigue)
- Migratory musculoskeletal pain (joints, bursae, tendons, muscle, or bone)
Neurologic symptoms: • Severe headache (meningitis) • Numbness, pain, weakness of extremities • Poor motor coordination • Cognitive dysfunction: Memory loss, difficulty in concentrating, mood changes, sleep disturbances Less Common Symptoms • Eye problems such as conjunctivitis • Heart abnormalities and myocarditis

Late I n f e c t i o n (months to years after infection)
A
- Arthritis, intermittent or chronic
- Encephalopathy (mood and sleep disturbances)
- Neurocognitive dysfunction
- Peripheral neuropathy
