What is known as the “host and guest” combination?
Yuan source point of the first or primarily affected channel is combined with the luo- connecting point of its interiorly-exteriorly coupled channel.(therefore, stimulating the meridian from both ends)
LI 4 AND LU 7
Host and guest: when exterior pathogenic wind invades exterior of body, LI 4 expels pathogen and LU 7 assists and restores descending and disseminating functions of the lung.
LU 9 and LI 6
LI 6 is an important point to open and regulate the water passages and is indicated when pathogenic wind disrupts the function of the lung resulting in acute edema esp upper part of body
SP 3 and ST 40
SP 3 TONIFYS SPLEEN (root cause of excessive phlegm) and ST 40 primary point to resolve phlegm
HT 7 and SI 7
HT 7 calms and regulates shen and SI 7 has a strong action on treating psycho-emotional disorders
KD 3 and BL 58
KD 3 main point to benefit KD yin below, BL 58 lowers excessive yang, which, not rooted and secured by deficit yin, rushes upward to the head
LV 3 and GB 37
LV 3 primary point to regulate disharmony of LV zang (eye disorders) GB 37 benefits the eyes
