Lungy Lung Lungs Flashcards
What are the pulmonary complications associated with congenital diaphragmatic hernia?
Pulmonary hypoplasia from compression of the lungs by the abdominal contents
Peribronchial cuffing; lower resp track infection in children under 2
Bronchiolitis
Due to a surfactant deficiency causing increased alveolar surface tension resulting in atelectasis–> this results in xray with diffuse ground glass opacities and air bronchograms (air filled bronchioles)
this is seen in neonatal rds
What is this a characteristic x ray finding of: diffuse ground glass opacities and air bronchograms
neonatal rds
What is this a characteristic x ray finding of: interstitial infiltrates with prominent interlobar fissures
transient tachypnea of the newborn
What is this a characteristic x ray finding of: bilateral infiltrates and lung hyperinflation are seen in
meconium aspiration syndrome
Pre term or post term higher risk:
meconium aspiration syndrome
Pre term or post term higher risk: RDS
preterm
Tripoding, stridor, dysphagia, drooling are all part of the presentation of
epiglottitis
