Trace the Lung Channel
The Lung Channel begins in the Middle Jiao goes down to the Large Intestine up to the diaphragm and into the Lungs continues up to the throat down to the shoulder and down the arm ends on the radial side of the thumb
Where does the Lung Divergent Channel break off?
The Lung Divergent Channel breaks off above the elbow
Where does the Lung Tendinomuscular Channel go?
The Lung Tendinomuscular channel begins at the extremity (at the Jing Well)
Moves inwards and knots at the extremities
Goes into the intercostal spaces
What muscle group should we associate with the Lung Luo or Lung Collateral?
Thenar Eminence
LU1 Category, Location, Functions, Indications
Category: Front Mu of Lung
Location:
Laterosuperior to the sternum, at the level of the 1st intercostal space
6 cun lateral to the midline
(oblique)
Functions: Clears and diffuses the upper burner and courses Lung Qi (sends Lung Qi downward)
Indications: cough, asthma, pain in the chest, shoulder and back, fullness in the chest
LU2 Category, Location, Functions, Indications
**highest point on the Lung Channel Category: -- Location: In the superior lateral part of the anterior thoracic wall, superior to the coracoid process of the scapula, in the depression of the infraclavicular fossa 6 cun lateral to the anterior midline (oblique) Functions: same as LU1 Indications: same as LU1
LU3 - Category, Locations, Functions, Indications
Category: –
Locations:
On the Medial aspect of the upper arm
3 cun below the end of the axillary fold
On the radial side of the m. biceps brachii
(perpendicular)
Functions: Clears Lung Heat and regulates Lung Qi
Indications: asthma, epistaxis, pain in the medial aspect of the arm
LU4 Category, Locations, Functions, Indications
Category: –
Locations:
On the Medial Aspect of the Upper Arm
4 cun below the anterior end of the axillary fold, or 5 cun above the cubital crease, on the radial side of the m biceps brachii
(perpendicular)
Functions: Regulates Qi and Blood, relieves pain
Indications: cough, fullness in the chest, pain in the medial aspect of the upper arm
LU5 - Category, Location, Functions and Indications
Category: He Sea Point
Sedating Point
Son Point
Water Point - Cools the Lungs
Location:
On the transverse cubital crease, on the radial side of the tendon of the m. biceps brachii. Locate with the elbow slightly bent
(perpendicular)
Functions: Discharges lung fire, hemoptysis, sore throat
Downbears Counterflow Qi: cough and asthma
Clears upper burner heat: afternoon fever, mastitis
LU6 - Category, Locations, Function, Indication
Category: Xi Cleft Point
Location:
On the palmar aspect of the forearm, on the line joining LU9 and LU5
7 cun above the wrist crease
(perpendicular)
Functions: Regulates Lung Qi and causes Lung Qi to descend – acute asthma attack
Clears Heat
Stops Bleeding
Indications: cough, pain in chest, asthma, hemoptysis, sore throat, spasmodic pain of the elbow and arm
LU7 - Category, Locations, Function, Indication
Category:
Luo Connecting Point
Command Point of the Head and Neck
Confluent Point of Ren
Exit Point
Location:
Superior to the Styloid Process of the radius, 1.5 cun above the transverse crease of the wrist
(obliquely upwards)
Functions:
-Major function is to diffuse the lung and dispel cold: cough, asthma, sore throat - Disperse Wei Qi and dispel cold
-Courses channels and frees the connecting vessels: pain and weakness in the wrist
-Also treats headache, migraine, neck rigidity, facial paralysis, tooth ache
-Mostly treats wind cold, but can be used to treat wind heat
(Often combine with KD6 when trying to address Yin Deficiency and chronic dry throat)
