How to define stage?
Limited stage

What the definition of limited stage?
Tumor limited to the ipsilateral hemithorax and regional lymph nodes (although subclinical metastases are usually present)

What the definition of extensive stage?
Involvement of contralateral lymph nodes, malignant pericardial/pleural effusion, or distant metastases (as in this patient with liver and contralateral lung lesions)

Limited stage treatment?
Curative intent and usually receive concurrent platin-based chemotherapy and thoracic radiation; 5-year survival is ~20%.

Extensive stage treatment?
6 cycles of monotherapy (platin based) (eg. etoposide plus cisplatin)

Who recieve prophylaxic thoracic/cranial radiation therapy?
Those who responded to chemotherapy
