Which LU patterns are excess
"Wind Cold Attacking Lung (Exterior)" Wind Heat Attacking Lung Dryness Attacking Lung Wind Water Invading the Lung Cold Invading the Lung Turbid Phlegm Obstructing the Lung Heat Congesting the Lung "Water-cold Shooting into the Lung
Chills and fever, abnormal breathing, cough, sneezing, nasal congestion, nose bleeding, superficial pulse
Lung Key Symptoms
feeble cough and dyspnea which worse with exertion, copious thin, clear phlegm, short of qi, SOB, dislike speak, low voice, fatigue, low energy, spontaneous sweating, aversion to wind, easy to catch cold, pale complexion. A pale tongue with thin white coating, and a weak pulse
Lung qi deficiency
dry cough without phlegm or with little sticky phlegm, or blood stained phlegm, difficult to expectorate, a dry mouth, red cheeks, hoarse voice, tidal fever, night sweating, feverish sensation in five center area. A red tongue with little coating, a thready and rapid pulse
Lung yin deficiency
cough, with thin white sputum, aversion to cold, fever, headache, body- ache, nasal congestion, and discharge with thin snivel, thin white coating, a superficial and tight pulse
Wind Cold Attacking Lung
Exterior
cough, with sticky yellow sputum, nasal congestion with thick yellow discharges, fever, slight aversion to wind and cold, slight thirsty, or sore throat,. Red tongue tip, thin yellow coating, superficial and rapid pulse.
Wind Heat Attacking Lung
dry cough, little sticky phlegm, or blood streaked phlegm, difficult expectorate, dry mouth, throat and nose, or nose bleeding, cough with blood, dry stool, scanty urine, thin and dry coating. Accompany with fever, slight chills, no sweating or slight sweating, superficial and rapid pulse or superficial and tight pulse
Dryness Attacking Lung
acute onset, edema start from eyelid, plus chills and fever, superficial pulse.
sudden swelling of eyes and face (starts at eyes and face), gradually spreading to the whole body, bright shiny complexion, scanty and clear urine, aversion to wind, fever, cough, slight shortness of breath (because of water accumulation in LU), a white tongue coating, and a superficial pulse
Wind Water Invading the Lung
cough, panting, thin white or clear phlegm, cold limbs and body, pale tongue with white coating, a deep and slow pulse
Cold Invading the Lung
Cough, wheezing, oppression in chest, brain fog, dizzy, greasy tongue coating, slippery pulse
Turbid Phlegm Obstructing the Lung
- damp phlegm 2. health phlegm 3. cold phlegm 4. dry phlegm 5. phlegm fluids
5 subtypes of Turbid Phlegm Obstructing the Lung
cough, dyspnea, yellow and thick phlegm, or cough with foul pus and blood, fever, thirst, pain in the chest, dry stool and dark urine. A red tongue with yellow coating, a slippery and rapid pulse
Heat Congesting the Lung
deficient (SP and KD) and excess (in LU)
-congestive heart failure
cough, panting, copious, foamy phlegm, in severe cases an inability to lie flat, no thirst or little thirst, inhibited urination, white and slippery tongue coating, and a wiry and tight pulse. If the pattern emerges with the appearance of cold, then it is complicated by aversion to cold, body aches and a floating pulse; dyspnea, unable to lie down flat
Water-cold Shooting into the Lung
Diarrhea, constipation, abdominal bloating/distension, Borborygmi (bowel sounds)
LI key symptoms
