why do we study LUC?
- Developing knowledge of an area
- Identifying trends which informs planning
- Being able to monitor change to identify conflict
- Evaluate the impact of change on the population and environment

- Social (population, movement, cultural attitudes, language, religion, work skills)
- Historical (past decisions, heritage)
- Economical (money, employment, income, profit, trade, goods and services)
- Environmental (shape of land, drainage, soil, indigenous vegetation and climate)
- Political (government and non-government agencies)
- Technological (science, engineering and communications)
