Motivation
A
3G: provides circuit switched service at 64 kbitps and packed switched service at 384 to 2000kbitps
Enhanced HSPA(High speed packet access) supports data rates of 14Mbitps (DL) and 5.7 UP.
Both use WCDMA (Wideband CDMA) and the same spectrum.
- > Increase peak data rates (Up to 100Mbitps in 20MHz spectrum)
