LSGS Flashcards
What’s the field elevation?
1582 ft
What types of procedures are available at LSGS?
RNP / IGS (6° steep approach + offset)
What kind of WX reports are available at LSGS?
METAR-TAF
What’s the length of the longest RWY?
2000 m (07-25)
Why would you use the IGS rather than the RNP?
The RNP cannot be used in temperatures below -20°C OAT and is subject to approval from the AD.
What’s the minimum climb gradient for High Performance departures?
13.6% until 8500ft
How do you make sure that you will have the required climb gradient for high perf departures?
- Check in the PC12 calculator that you will have at least 13.6% until alt 2.
- Calculate ypr climb gradient for every mile until you reach 8500 ft and then compute the average.
What are the limitations of the VPT 25?
- Forbbiden by night
- 125 kts max
What are 2 of the most tricky parts of the GLS25?
- Between MASAB and ALETO, you have to lose 1000 ft in 40 seconds.
It is recommended to take at least 1500 ft pe min at ALETO and to have captured the LOC at ALETO. - When passing D7.0 from ISI, don’t forget to switch the DME source to SIO
Which systems should you activate/deactivate before starting the GLS25 final approach?
- The “Steep Approach Mode” should be turned on when shooting an approach with a slope > 4.5°.
You can find the option to activate this mode in the “I don’t know” window, under the tab “WX/TAWS/TCAS”. - The Terrain Inhibit should also be turned on to prevent unnecessary alarms going off during the descent.
What are the reauirements to revalidate your Sion B endorsement?
1 High Perf departure + 1 IGS 25 every year.
In which case would you be forbidden to conduct a steep approach?
Steep approaches are forbbiden in icing conditions.
What’s the tailwind limitatin for the IGS 25?
5 knots max.
Which elemnts should you consider to prepare the IGS 25? (6)
- Tail wind limits
- Terrain inhibit
- Steep APR mode
- MASAB –> ALETO segment
- Go around altitude (17.000’)
- NAV source switch at D.7 from ISI to SIO for the go around
