What is the difference between being economically inactive and unemployed?
Economically inactive is student, the sick and carers. Discouraged workers too. The unemployed is those in the workforce that are without jobs.
What is a macroeconomic objective for employment?
Full employment
What is the claimant count measure?
A measure of unemployment that counts the total number of recipients of JOB SEEKERS ALLOWANCE (JSA) added to those who must be looking for work to claim universal credit.
What is the labour force survey?
Measure of unemployment which asks 60,000 to 70,000 households to classify as employed, self employed or economically inactive.
What is the disadvantages of the labour force survey?
Due to it being a survey of 60,000 households there will be sampling errors.
What is the disadvantages of the claimant count?
People may be too proud to claim universal credit.
