Strengthen Questions

Purpose: Find the rule that best supports the argument.

Purpose: Identify the rule that matches the argument’s principle.

Purpose: Identify what the argument relies on to be valid.

Purpose: Find the assumption that guarantees the conclusion.

Purpose: Identify an argument with the same flaw.
Indicators: Parallel flaw, similar flaw, analogous error
Match the Reasoning
Purpose: Find an argument with the same reasoning pattern.
Indicators: Analogous, similar, parallel reasoning, same pattern
Identify the Conclusion
Purpose: Pinpoint the main point of the argument.
Indicators: Therefore, thus, hence, so, consequently
Identify the Role
Purpose: Determine the function of a specific part of the argument.

Purpose: Describe the structure of technique used in the argument.

Purpose: Find what must be true based on the given information.
Indicators: Must be true, can be inferred, is supported by, follows from
Resolve the Discrepancy
Purpose: Explain or resolve a conflict or discrepancy in the argument.
Indicators: Resolves, explains, reconciles, accounts for, clarifies
Point of Disagreement
Purpose: Identify where the arguments conflict or disagree.
Indicators: Disagree, difference of opinion, conflicting views, point of contention
