armor to whom?
In 1993 the department initiated a distribution program
for body armor. The distribution plan allowed for each
assigned field position to be issued personal body
armor. Body armor was also issued to administrative
staff positions.

Multi-layers of Kevlar or Spectra Shield
protection level of IIA on the Second Chance
and Safariland. Level IIIA on US Armor. US

How is body armor concealed?
Body armor should be worn by concealing from
sight of a potential attacker by covering with:
1. Brush jacket
2. EMS safety coat
3. Firefighting turnout coat
For safety body armor will be in
place when?
As a safety issue, body armor will be in place

When you are sharing a vest, how
must it be worn?
For sanitary reasons
1. Only members who are assigned to a vest
a) May wear it under their jumpsuit or
standard uniform.
2. Shared vests must be worn
a) Over a jump suit, standard uniform, or
work uniform.
3. Temporary vest may be obtained on loan:
a) From the Battalion office
b) While assigned vest is being washed
or dried.
Who can repair body armor outer
shells?
If body armor should need repairs to outer
shell only:
1. May be made by mobile turnout repair
B. Damaged ballistic panels shall be sent to:
1. Supply and Maintenance Division for
replacement or repair.
How do we store our body armor
when not being worn?
All members shall store their body armor vest
when they are not being worn
1. In a secured area
2. Out of sight of the public
