Lower Limb 2 Blood and Nerves DR Flashcards
what is a nerve plexus
peripheral spinal nerve roots (from different segments) merge and split to produce a network of nerves from which new multi-segmental peripheral nerves emerge
both upper and lower limbs are innervated by nerves from plexi
upper limb - brachial plexus
lower limb - lumbosacral plexus
what is the difference between superficial and deep veins
deep veins have the same course as arteries and are deep to the fascia lata surrounding the muscles
deep veins can be venae comitantes
superficial veins are superior to the fascia lata
what are the muscles, blood supply and nerve supply of the gluteal region
Superficial - hip abductors + extenders
gluteus maximus - inferior gluteal artery, inferior gluteal nerve
gluteus medius - inferior gluteal artery, inferior gluteal nerve
gluteus minimus - superior
tensor fascia lata
deep - lateral rotators:
Obturator internus
quadratus femoris
piriformis
superior + inferior gemelli
