Lower Extremity Muscles Flashcards
SA for Psoas Major?
Sides of bodies T12-L5, IV Discs, and TP of Lumbar Vertabrae.
IA for Psoas Major?
Lesser trochanter of femur
Action for Psoas Major?
Flexes Hip

AR L1, L2
PA for TFL?
ASIS and anterior part of iliac crest.
DA for TFL?
Iliotibial Band (ITB) which inserts on gerdy’s tubercle on the lateral tibial condyle
Action of TFL?
Abduct, internally rotates and flexes hip. Can assist with knee flexion/extension. (Via its insertion of ITB)
N of TFL?
Superior gluteal nerve, L5
PA of Sartorious?
ASIS and superior part of notch inferior to it
DA for Sartorious?
Superior surface of medial tibia (pes anserine)
A for Sartorious?
Hip flexion, abduction, external rotation, knee flexion and tibial internal rotation.
N for sartorious?
Femoral Nerve L2, L3
PA for Rectus Femoris?
AIIS and ilium superior to acetabulum
DA for Rectus Femoris?
Quadriceps tendon, patella, tibial tubercle via patellar ligament
A for Rectus Femoris?
Hip flexion, Knee extension
N for Rectus Femoris?
Femoral L3, L4

Linea aspera (lateral lip), greater trochanter
DA for Vastus Lateralis?
Quadriceps tendon, patella, tibial tubercle via patellar ligament
A for Vastus Lateralis?
Knee extension
N for vastus Lateralis?
Femoral nerve L3, L4
PA for Vastus Medius?
Linea Aspera (medial lip), intertrochanteric line
PA for Vastus Medius?
