Lower body Flashcards
Lateral femoral cutaneous N
Origin
Muscle
Commonly entraped
2nd and 3rd Lumbar nerves
Passes through the posts muscle (2nd and 3rd Lumbar nerves combine in the muscles)
commonly entrapped in the lateral aspect of the inguinal ligament
ONLY SENSORY
arises from the 3rd and 2nd lumbar nerves, formed in the Psoas muscles and is most commonly impinged at the lateral aspect of the ilioinguinal ligament
Lateral femoral cutaneous N-meralgia paresthetica
Meralgia paresthetica vs Lumbar nerve roots
Lateral femoral cutaneous N is solely sensory so zero mmt findings, usually better when seated and worse when standing, aggravated by hip extension
Lumbar nerve roots 1&2: weak quads and patella reflex
False Meralgia paresthetica
entrapment of superior gluteal Nerve
innervates medius, minimus and TFL
Meralgia paresthetica vs Lumbar nerve root 2 and 3
Lateral femora cutaneous N- Sensory only
Tender latereal inguinal ligament that deep palpation makes pain worse
2nd 3rd Lumbar- diminished patellar reflex and Quadracep strength
False Meralgia Paresthetica
entrapment of the superior gluteal N
cutaneous innervations for which nerves?
Glute max is vulnerable in piriformis syndrome because…
Inferior gluteal nerve differentiates below the piriformis muscle making it vulnerable to hyperotonicity sparing glute medius and minimus innervated by superior gluteal nerve
Piriformis syndrome management
