What does a positive femoral stretch test indicate?
Disk herniation, affecting the L2, L3 or L4 nerve root
How to perform femoral stretch test?
Patient lying pronated, flex knee and lift the leg, pain in anterior thing is positive
Features of L3 compression
Sensory loss of anterior thigh
Weak hip flexion, knee extension and hip addiction
Reduced knee reflex
Features of L4 compression
Sensory loss to anterior knee and medial malleus
Weak knee extension and hip adduction
Reduced knee reflex
Features of L5 compression
Sensory loss of dorsal of foot (top)
Weak foot and big toe dorsiflexion
Reflexes intact
Positive sciatic nerve stretch test
Features of S1 compression
Sensory loss of postolateral leg and lateral foot
Weakness in plantar flexion
Absent/reduced ankle reflex
