Explain Zakat
Zakat translating into “purity”, Zakat purifies and (halal) or legitimizes wealth among muslims, by reminding them that ultimately all wealth belongs to God
What is id-al-fitr?
id-al-fitr is the feast at the end of Ramadan
Explain Jihad?
e.g. striving or struggles
Jihad in the Qur’an means to be generous, hard-working, sincere, and responsible.
Greater Jihad: an internal struggle against ones self i.e. selfishness
Lesser Jihad: Efforts to protect the Way of God against forces of evil, by safeguarding the muslim community.
Military Jihad:
- only done by the government
- fair warning
- natural resources are spared
- only after peace was unattainable
- civilians must be protected
