Louis Pasteurs Germ Theory Flashcards

1
Q

Edward Jenner

A

Created first vaccine against smallpox which inspired scientists as if led to less deaths and less cases IF people were vaccinated. This inspired people such as Robert Koch and Louis Pasteur to search for the causes of disease.

Q

How did he disprove this

A

He closed off one flask and it stayed unaffected - the other one went bad which proves sue caused this however it was Louis Pasteur that discovered it was actually the bacteria in the air making it go bad

Q

How did this lead to discovery in medicine

A

It meant that people could start to find ways to destroy the bacteria causing less disease as it disproved the theory of miasma. Less to a mass production of vaccines so less deaths and diseases
