Injecting hormones like epo cause increased red blood cells. How does this effect happen?
Some hormones trigger a cascade of events, leading to altered protein sythesis in target cells. A change in gene expression causes changes in the cell behavior. Some hormones enter into the nucleus of target cells directly and act as transcriction factors themselves.
