what should you first determine during lost comms
if you are in VFR conditions
if so, continue in VFR and land as soon as practicable
squawk 7600 for lost comms
if not in VFR what altitude should you fly
the higest of “MEA”
Minimum altitude prescribed for ifr
Expected (as in “expect 5000 10 min after departure)
Assigned (last assigned by ATC)
what route should you fly
AVEF
Assigned route or if none: Vectored (fly to fix/route/airway last vectored to), if none: last Expected route by ATC, if none: Filed route
leaving the clearance limit pt 1
first determine: is the clearance limit a fix from which an approach begins
leaving the clearance limit pt 2
is the clearance limit a fix from which an approach begins
yes: start decent & approach as close as possible to the EFC or ETA (if not EFC was given
no: at EFC or clearance limit (if not EFC given), proceed to a fix from which an approach begins & start the approach
