Q

what other novel did Golding use as a way of implying that the message of the book is unreal and wrong?
what was it also about

A

“The Coral Island”
it is about a group of Victorian children that are shipwrecked on an island and they build an Utopia

a few misconceptions during Golding’s time of writing the book

A

Feminism was not around during the time so perhaps that’s why the book has boys in it only (he also worked in a boy private school)
Britain was not yet multiracial (still believed in the WASP)

Q

difference between Ralph, Jack & Piggy

A

Ralph - good leadership skills, still civilised, fair (democratic leader, everyone gets a say)
“we’ll have to have ‘hands up’ like at school”
jack - more of a dictator, he wants things to go his way, his rules are compromised to his own liking, he enjoys punishing people
“‘Lots of rules! if anyone breaks ‘em’”
Piggy - he is the voice of reason, not interested of being a leader, understands its not a game, pointing out it is not a utopia, mature
“‘Nobody knows where we are’”
