- Extreme end of “underweight” may indicate anorexia nervosa
- Considered a mental illness
- Some people have a predisposition to anorexia

Cause of Anorexia Nervosa
A
- Being overweight –> social and individual aspects

Anorexia:
1) Ego-psychlogical theories - not sure
2) Family systems theories - anorexia is facilitated by overcontrolling families or being emotionally trapped
3) Endocrinological theories - Contributed to by hormonal defects
4) Sociocultural theories - Social norms that emphasize thinness

Muscle Dysmorphia (Bigorexia) - opposite of anorexia

- Muscle Dysmorphia - disordered fixation on gaining body mass
- Men with these insecurities are lead to be more aggressive towards men and women
- Men are not supposed to care about how they look but of course they look at their body and are effected by it

↳ There are models who are “plus size” - Their goals are to remove the stigma around “fatness” and promote physical fitness
↳ They want to alert people in the dangers of losing weight and how to social def of fat is not real & not a health risk
