Common features of LTCI premiums
guaranteed renewability
non-forfeitures benefits: return of premium or shortened benefit
waiver of premium while receiving benefits
General exclusions:
pre-existing conditions, mental and nervous disorders, care provided by family or loved ones.

the insurer must guarantee that the insured will receive some of the benefits paid for even upon cancellation or lapse of coverage
chronic illness
having physical or cognitive impairment that prevents the insured individual from performing at least 2 of 6 ADLs for at least 90 days, or requiring substantial supervision to prevent the insured from posing a danger to himself or herself or others
guaranteed renewable
the company must renew the policy each year as long as premiums are paid.
terminal illness
having a life expectancy of less than 24 months, which must be certified by a qualified health professional
