A reaction against the liberal ideas taking hold of Europe during the french revolution in the late 18th century

A response to the industrial revolution, which was the emergence of technologies such as the steam engine and mass production
Socialism
A strong belief that one’s nation is great (18th-19th century)
Nationalism
A highly nationalist militaristic totalitarian political ideology in w/c one person has absolute power
Fascism
Is a collection of ideas typically, each ideology contains certain ideas on what it considers to be the best form of government

Ability to get what you want, or as a scholar “kenneth boulding” said, power is the ability to change the future.

Ability to dominate another person or group as in “I have power over him”
Power over
Ability to do something on one’s own—it refers to one’s abilities.
Power to
Similar to “power to” in that it reflects ability, but this is the ability to work with others to get something done by cooperation

5 types of power
Coercive power, reward power, legitimate power, expert power, and referent power
Usage of threat to make people do what one desire
Coercive power
Uses reward, perks, new projects, or training opportunities, better roles and monetary benefits to influence people.
Reward power
Emenates from an official position held by someone, be it in organization or government, etc.
Legitimate power
W/c owes its genesis to the skills and expertise posses by an individual, w/c is of higher quality and not easily available
Expert power
Wielded by celebrities and film stars, as they have huge ff. Amongst masses who like them
