Unorthodox tactics in the war of Independence
-the buglar sounded the trumpet to notify that more troops were coming when in reality no one was coming

Perspectives on the War of 1812
Canadian: the unification of the different types of people. This was the first time they all work together. This was about the right to shape our own destiny. It stopped conflict between British, US and Canada
American: helped them build their navy and helped them now be seen as an international player. Their anthem was also created. Peace, prosperity and friendship came out of the war (between the US and Canada)
British: saw the war as an unwanted conflict. They were preoccupied with napoleon at the time.
Aboriginal Peoples: Very important part of their history. represents an alliance with the british. Many of their soldiers fought for the British, after being promised land protection, they were left out of the peace negotiations at the end of the war. Was about solidifying Canadian identity and peace
