Premise = reasons which the author uses to persuade

Conclusion = what the author is saying or wanting us to believe

Premise and Conclusions are STATEMENTS
Premise + Conclusion = ARGUMENTS

Argument aim is to PERSUADE
‘Good’ Argument = depends on how STRONG the support is for the conclusion in the argument

Premise : a sentence which SUPPORTS another sentence
*therefore arguments are ideas supporting other ideas

Three types of people:
1 . Sticklers - stick to their initial thoughts and beliefs
2. Followers - willing to believe anyone with authority
3. Systems builders - more sophisticated version of (1). They feel a need to box ideas into a framework
