Ad Hominem
Attempting to undermine the truth of an idea by attacking the person who proposes the idea
Self Contradiction
a statement fails to satisfy its own condition for rational acceptability or truthfulness
False Dilemma
two or more options are given as if exclusive even though there are more available
Slippery Slope
a particular proposition is untrue because of increasingly unacceptable events that could follow
Complex Question
two otherwise unrelated points are joined together and treated as a single proposition or question
Appeals
using popular opinion, pity or consequences to force the argument
Hasty Generalizations
making assumptions about the shole based on a small sample set
Begging the Question
an assumption that puts the conclusion into one of the premises
Straw Man
setting up a false or weak case and then attacking it
Genetic Fallacy
ideas can be rejected purely on the basis of their origin
Post Hoc Fallacy
two otherwise unrelated events running parallel are joined together casually
