Slippery slope
Asserting that if we allow A to happen then Z will consequently happen too, therefore A should not happen
Ad hominem
attacking your opponents character or personal traits in an attempt to undermine their argument
Begging the claim
A circular argument in which the conclusion is included in the premise
Post hoc
Something that comes at the same time or just after something else, the diet thing is caused by the second
red herring
A diversionary tactic that avoids the key issues, often by avoiding opposing arguments rather than addressing them.
Hasty generalization
A conclusion based in insufficient or biased evidence. Jumping to conclusion
Either/or
This is a conclusion that oversimplifies the argument by reducing it to only two sides or choices
Ad populum
This is an emotional appeal that speaks to positive or negative concepts rather than real issues at hand. Using famous people to prove a claim
Straw man
Misrepresenting Someone’s argument to make it easier to attack
