- Instill fluoresce in in the patience eyes and ask them to blink
- Ask them to hold eye open
- scan the cornea with a 2-3 mm wide cobalt blue light and low magnification
- count from. The time of the last blink the seconds it takes to show the dark spots or streaks
- if the patient blinks before 10seconds have them start over
- repeat the measurement and take the average
