Q

Difference between locomotion and movement

A

○ Locomotion is the movement of an individual from one place to another.
○ Movement is a change in posture or position
○ All locomotions are movement, but all movements are not locomotion

Q

What is elasticity and how much can a myocyte contract

A

The property of shortening and then returning to relaxed state of the muscle fibre
Myocytes can shorten by 1/3 to 1/2 of their length

Q

Describe the T.S of a muscle:
i) Epimysium
ii) Fasciculi
iii) Perimysium
iv) Endomysium
v) Fascia

A

■ A muscle is covered by a sheath of tissue called 𝒆𝒑𝒊𝒎𝒚𝒔𝒊𝒖𝒎.
■ Inside the epimysium, a muscle has many muscle fibres arranged in bundles called 𝒇𝒂𝒔𝒄𝒊𝒄𝒖𝒍𝒊 (singular-fasciculus or fascicle).
■ Each fasciculus is surrounded by a sheath of connective tissue called 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒎𝒚𝒔𝒊𝒖𝒎.
■ The muscle fibres are parallel to each other in the fasciculus and surrounded by a connective tissue called 𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒐𝒎𝒚𝒔𝒊𝒖𝒎.
■ The muscle bundles are further bound together by a common collagenous sheath of connective tissue called 𝒇𝒂𝒔𝒄𝒊𝒂.

Q

What is a tendon

A

The two ends of muscles are attached to the bone with the help of an inelastic connective tissue- tendon. (One end of the muscle is attached to fixed or less movable bone and the other end is attached to the more movable bone)
