what is loto?
LOTO is a method of safely isolating systems and equipment electrically and mechanically
what are the four main reasons for conducting loto?
- the isolation of equipment to allow maintenance to proceed without hazard to the maintainer of the equipment.
- where equipment is defective and may be dangerous.
- prevention of selection of a mode of operation which may be unavailable or dangerous
- where supplies have been provided but equipment has yet to be fitted.
what are the seven considerations which must be conducted as part of the loto process?
- normal & alternative points to be identified
- obtain permission
- inform equipment use and other personnel
- a loto tag is filled out for each other isolation point
- the sequential number is to be found from the index sheet
- everything to be completed in the front of the loto log
- all lot to information to be recorded on a loto safety certificate

what does a welding sentry do and have?
the sentry covers the welder and removes combustile materials making sure no fires break out. they have a fire retardant blanket and a fire extinguisher as there equipment to ensure they can stop a fire.
what are time zone checks for a sentry?
the welder signs it after its completed
the sentry after 20 mins
the ood/oow will check it after 30 mins
the dmesr will check it after the working day
