Coastline description
A
Odisha has a relatively straight coastline (480km long) with few natural inlets and harbours.
The coastal plain mostly comprises of depositional landforms of recent origin, geologically belonging to the post-Tertiary period. There are six major deltas on the Odisha coast, which explains why the coastal plain is known locally as the ‘Hexadeltaic region’ of the ‘Gift of Six Rivers’
