(stages IIB, IIIA, and IIIB disease).

inflammatory breast cancer
A
- The hallmark of inflammatory breast cancer is diffuse
tumor involvement of the dermal lymphatic channels
within the breast and overlying skin, often without a
discrete underlying tumor mass. - may be no abnormality on mammography beyond skin
thickening - palpable mass is not required for the diagnosis

A
- rapid onset of the disease, with progression over
weeks to 3 months. - Clinical Diagnosis
- pathologic hallmark :
» tumor cells within dermal lymphatics - ALND always performed
- Tx :
neoadjuvant chemotherapy
mastectomy
radiation therapy
endocrine therapy for ER-positive tumors
trastuzumab for HER-2–positive tumors
