Localization skills: visual changes or impairment Flashcards
Visual impairment from binocular diplopia (where covering either eye normalizes vision) is caused by dysfunction of _________.
The EOMs (lesions of the muscles, their NMJs, their CN’s, or their connecting/descending/ascending pw’s to other brain regions)
Damage to an ocular nerve causes:
Monocular blindness
Damage to the optic chiasm causes:
Heteronymous hemianopsia
Damage to the visual pw’s causes distal to optic chiasm causes:
Contralateral homonymous hemianopsia
What does the patient see if they have a problem w/their retina?
Scotoma (a partial loss of vision or a blind spot in an otherwise normal visual field) / constricted visual fields
Review those vision lesion diagrams.
