Q

Wernickes area

A

Responsible for language

17
Q

Peterson et al

A

Used brain scans to demonstrate how W area was active during listening task and B area was active during reading task suggesting these areas have different functions

18
Q

Who’s supports the theory of localised function?

A

PhineAse gage

19
Q

Who studies the effects of split brainsurgety?

A

Sperry 1968

20
Q

What was the method of sperry study?

A

11rps had undergone split brain as a result of epilepsy
In one of experiments rps covered one eye and looked at fixed points on a projection screen.
Pictures were projected onto right or left at high speeds so there was as no time for eye movements

21
Q

What were the results of sperry study?

A
Right= say or write without a problem
Left= couldn't write or say what they had seen
22
Q

What was the conclusion to the sperry study?

A

Shows different areas of the brain specialise different functions

23
Q

What was the evaluation of the sperry study?

A

Using case studies meant sperry obtained both qualitative and quantitive data
Small sample
Valid and reliable
Would have been difficult to find a lot of split brain patients to study
Hard to conclude it would be same as non epileptic patients
