What is a executive council?
A council constituted to advise or share in the functions of political executive.
What is a cabinet minister?
MLA members chosen by the government to do the job of working in different departments to help the government.
What is a premier?
The leader of a political party that wins the most seats in a provincial election.
What does MLA stand for?
Member of the Legislative Assembly.
What is a lieutenant government?
A person who represents the Monarchy in ALberta’s government.
What is a minister?
A politician who heads a ministry, making decisions on policies in conjunction with the other ministers.
What is the job of the premier?
To take responsibility to explain Alberta’s government plans and priorities, issues in Alberta, and relay their message to the federal government and Prime Minister. The three main responsibilities of the provincial government are health,education, and making laws.
What is the job of the MLA?
To serve the needs of people in their constituency, taking part in government, to bring concerns to the MLA’s and the premier, and introducing debates and voting bills.
What is the Legislative Assembly?
Elected representatives from the 87 constituencies meet to determine and debate government priorities
What is a MLA?
A member appointed by the voters of a district to the legislature, someone that takes part in the Legislative Assembly.
What are the responsibilities of the Lieutenant government?
To represent the King or Queen, sign bills, invite leaders of winning political parties, issue the Royal Proclamation, read the speech from the throne, and dissolving or closing the Legislative Assembly.
