Local Adaptation Flashcards
1
Q
What are the key characteristics of local adaptation?
A
1) The local genotype population performs better than the immigrant genotypes
2) Recombinants are intermediate, ie no possible genotype with highest fitness on both environments

Q
How can conditional neutrality affect whether or not local adaptation occurs?
A
If there is conditional neutrality (ie two different traits and each is selected for in one environment and is neutral in the other) then there is a possibility of a recombinant that is selected for in both environments and therefore it will not create local adaptation variation.
