Info held by businesses on their employees.
Info must be freely avaliable to the employee any time they request it.

Info related to performance & profit & loss of a business
Includes info how much to pay much you staff, costs of rates and taxes you pay as a business

Needs to be observed based on the products or services offered by your business.
Needs to be passed to ensure cost of goods or services is less than sales price.

Used by marketing team to identify what products or services offered are sucessful.
Collect Info from different departments.

Info about cost of manufacturing goods within the business.
Running costs of all machinery, wages paid to production staff & costs of raw materials used in manufacturing process.

Businesses can use information to help make accurate information.
Decisions made based on information avaliable to them from other business.

Orginates from reliable source - governing body business operate within.
Businesses need to use crucial language from the Government.

External Information: - Database & Information
Businesses can research info which increased sales & levels of interest in them.
Researching info helps a business to run successfully to ensure it’s accurate & reliable.
Some businesses pay to access commercially avaliable databases which offer a range of info based on sector.
LO5.1 Information Sources: - Secondary
Gathered from studies, survey of experiments run by other people or other resources.
Use secondary data first allows time to understand all areas before more costly collection of primary data.
LO5.1 Information Sources: - Primary
Collecting data that is collected from 1st hand sources.
Not expected by someone else’s views or judgements.
LO5.1 Information Sources: - What is Quantiative Data ?
Measurable & in numeric form because it records a quantity
LO5.1 Information Sources: - What is Qualitative Data ?
Descriptive, opinion based responses, text based.
LO5.2 Data Flow Diagrams: - What are Data Flow Diagrams ?
Maps out flow of info for any process or system,
Shows data flows through system.
Shows movement of data between external entities, processes & data stores within a systen,
Level 0 DFD - context diagrams & show a data system in limited detail shows overall flow of data through whole system.
Level 1 DFD - Focus on system & are therefore in more detail than a level 0 DFD.
LO5.2: - Data Flow Diagrams: - What are External Entities ?
Outside systens sends or recieves data, communicating with the system diagrammed.
Sources & destinations of information entering or leaving the system.
Databases where information for actual report is stored in an internal entity as it is within the system.
E.g. system to create student reports
LO5.2: - Data Flow Diagrams: - What are processes ?
Any process changes data, producing an output.
Might perform communication or sort data or direct the data flow based on business rules.
Must have at least one input and at least one one output.
